Poem: Rescue Team
I stand at the top of the cliff and wait!
Waiting for a rescue team to come
To come and rescue my dear ones at the bottom of the cliff
where they have trampled and crashed.
Broken bones and scarred skins, there they lie
waiting to be removed from their
stinking blood and tormenting misery
As heartbroken as I am
their hope is more
further away from
their minds, their hearts, their souls.
COME ON RESCUE TEAM! WHERE ARE YOU!
I’ve called them a thousand times,
They say they are coming
I argue, I scream over the phone
“MY LOVED ONES ARE WAITING
still they say
in calmness and peace
I hesitate to yell out
Again and again
“Help is coming!”
I can only hope
That my words comforts them
And that they believe in them.
What more can I do?
I’m not an expert in rescuing people in these situations
I’m not equipped to attempt the heroic act
I’d be just a fool.
So my only hope
In the pain of witnessing
Is to trust the voice
On the other end of the phone
Only Jesus can save
Only Jesus’ name can save people from their sin and their life of destruction. We as friends, sons and daughters, and mothers and fathers of the lost can only speak.
Speak to them and tell them about Jesus who is the only one who has the ability to rescue them from misery. He'll make them conscious of their tragedy, that is sin, they live in. Then, Jesus will show them a way out, just as He did for us.
We can also speak to the “rescue team”, that is Jesus, about our concern for our loved ones. Dear Jesus, I was once stranded at the bottom of the cliff and You rescued me. Please do the same for them!
Compassion for the lost
I was going through my files and I came across this poem that I wrote two years ago. I remember the night I wrote it vividly! I was crying to God for some people close to me who aren't walking with Jesus. I really got fired up that night as I prayed, yelled and cried.
The pondering of "how long God?"... "When?... When will You revive them?!" These questions weighed on my heart. II long to see the people I was praying for to come into a relationship with Jesus. It's been too long! I've been calling You and telling them about You're amazing power to save.
To be honest, I don’t always passionately pray for the salvation of people who don’t know Jesus. However, there is nothing more important than for people to give their lives to Jesus. The decision to follow Jesus or not have eternal consequences.
Covid-19, new 5G antennas and falling economies are scary stuff! There is so much uncertainty in our world right now. How many more people will Covid-19 infect? How long will the lockdown (actually) last? How many businesses will survive this lockdown?
As scary as these things are, I’m more concerned about people who don’t know Jesus as their personal saviour! Covid-19 is a new virus that is killing a number of people that get infected. Which is very sad. Although, let’s not forget about the sin virus that has been around for centuries.
The world hopes and waits for this virus to be eradicated. Scientists are working hard to develop a vaccine for Covid-19 and government are doing their best to keep everyone safe.
We Christians are doing the right thing in moving our ministries to online platforms. Our goal to connect with each other and encourage one another in our faith is still our main focus. The way we do that has changed.
Praying and practically doing what we should to stop the spread of the virus is necessary. Also, our call as Christians to spread the Gospel and making disciples is vital.
It is vital for us to continue sharing our faith during this time. Sharing our testimonies online and bringing Jesus into our chats with people are great ways.
We can help prevent people from getting Covid-19 as well as preventing unbelievers from eternal punishment.
